Sample a taste of Copenhagen this August when Carlsberg’s very own Danish Quarter returns to the Reading Festival after a hugely successful debut last year. With plenty of comfortable seats and one of the coolest bars on site, it’s the perfect place to meet friends, relax between bands and enjoy a cold Carlsberg. We can even help you stay connected all weekend with plenty of phone charging points and free WiFi to make sure you have everything you need for the perfect festival weekend.
The Danish Quarter Programme
Live Music & Intimate Acoustic Sets
Don’t think you’ll be missing out on the music either. Reading Festival is paradise for us Danes, who love nothing better than long summer days spent outdoors watching artists perform. So of course, our Danish Quarter will also boast its very own stage to showcase exclusive acoustic performances from some of our favourite up and coming musicians, giving you a chance to get up close and personal with them before certain superstardom beckons.
First, join us on Friday for an intimate set with the fantastically charismatic Annabel Allum. A Guilford-based singer-songwriter who makes music loaded with pulsating hooks and enigmatic tenacious vocals, Annabel showcases an innate ability to marry folk-style storytelling with snarling fuzzy indie. She toured with Beth Ditto late last year and her track ‘Beat The Birds’ went on to make the Radio 1 Introducing playlist and be chosen by Huw Stephens as his Introducing Track of the Week. Now with her first UK headline tour planned for this autumn, Annabel will first wow the Danish Quarter with a live acoustic performance followed by a late-night DJ set that should not be missed.
After seven albums and a career spanning over 20 years, there is no one better than Crazy P Soundsystem to step up the feel-good vibes on Saturday when they perform live in the Danish Quarter. Synonymous with the sounds of disco, house and soulful pop, Crazy P have led the revival of these sounds since 1997 and released their seventh album ‘Walk Dance Talk Sing’ in 2015 to great acclaim. They have toured with their DJ, Soundsystem and live band shows almost constantly since and are now regarded as one of dance music’s finest live performers. This is your chance to find out why.
Next, expect moody melodies, distinctive vocals and hypnotic introspection when the unmistakably British alt-R&B singer-songwriter ABISHA makes her Reading Festival debut. She only released her first track last year but her vulnerable yet evocative songwriting has already drawn praise from i-D, High Snobiety and Hunger Magazine amongst others. Currently honing her haunting sound with legendary FKA Twigs songwriter/producer Mike Chapman, ABISHA will be casting her spell in the Danish Quarter on Sunday.
The Perfect Place To Party Into The Night
Finally, come grab a cold Carlsberg and enjoy the best tunes from our favourite DJs, who will keep the party going all day and long into the night in the Danish Quarter. With plenty of room for everyone to chill out, dance and catch up over a beer, there will be nowhere better on site to enjoy a Reading Festival to remember.
